COLLABORATIVE DIVORCE:
In this process, each spouse is represented by counsel. As your counsel, I will help you to engage in conversations with your spouse and their counsel to make decisions regarding your separation. Like mediation, it is faster, less expensive, and less adversarial than a litigated divorce, and also allows separating families to make decisions based on their particular needs and circumstances. In collaborative divorce, unlike mediation, your lawyer's role is to represent and advocate for you, though we will avoid the adversarial nature of matrimonial litigation. Collaborative divorce can be well suited to clients who have difficulty expressing themselves in the presence of the other party, or if someone feels more comfortable having an advocate. |
